Media Center PC that crashes when playing videos

I have a WinXP media center PC that keeps constantly crashing. I'm fairly sure its related to the TV channels. Basically 3/4 of the programs i record will crash the PC when I try to play them back or will display the message "digital audio service" on a blank screen. Also I have about 30 channels tuned in and when i try to watch them only around 6 or 7 work the rest show "No TV signal", and this number keeps getting lower.

At first i thought this problem was TV signal but i have a seperate TV box that can receive all 30 channels crystal clear, I also had an engineer out to check my TV antenna an he said there was no problem and i had a strong signal.

My second theory was that there was some sort of hardware problem, I replaced the TV cards and the problem remains. I also run this machine as a regular PC sometimes and the machine never crashes when being used for web browsing, photoshop work etc. The problems only ever occur when using the Media Center part.

I have tried so much to fix this problem, and am really stuck on how can I start to diagnose the problem.
