Similar. My only caution is that stuff from tigerdirect tends to be crap. Thats why i go with newegg and buy the parts that need. Let me give you a config that is similar to yours at new egg.

Actually this one i created is a lot better for about the same money. Unless you think you need more then 2Gb of ram and then you would need to drop the barebones case and mobo and buy them separate.

Do you mean the internal or external USB?
They will obviously be building this for me, so my only concern would be th external connections.
I like the other case, but lean more towards the bare bones systems so I do not have to put in too much time determine what would be compatible with it to make a complete system.

external. If you plug a harddrive or something in backwards because of those crappy wire usb connectors like i did it will fry it. And what they mean by barebones is you get all the parts. You still have to build it. Its not premade.

oh and barebones are not necessarily compatable parts. But those parts are about the same as what I already have.

Just a few clarification questions for you in regards to the hardware you have picked out.
The memory shows a combo deal with the Foxconn P35A LGA system board and Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4Ghz processor.  Would those not be a better mix, or is there some reason you would advise against them?

I have always preferred AMD processors, so this will actually be my first Intel in quite some time, which is another reason why I preferred the bare bones, thinking it would come preassembled.  Thank you for confirming that it does not.

The DVD burner is not even an option really.  I have an external unit with my TV, and have a DVD ROM drive in my existing system, so I could probably bypass this altogether to reduce the cost somewhat.

I have also used Seagate  more than anything else in the past, but note that one user complains of a clicking noise during seeks with this hard drive and recommends the Samsung Spinpoint instead.  Your thoughts?

Lastly, while I do like the EVGA graphics card, and I did not realize that was similar to what came in the other setup, but I cannot use a card with only DVI connections.  While my monitor supports DVI, my KVM switch does not.  So I either have to opt for a different card, or get a new KVM that suppolrts DVI.  Any suggestions there?

Foxconn is a cheap board. MSI is at least very well respected so use that board. If you want the E6600, you would add, $94 but it would work and is faster. I have bad good luck with Seagate. I have two of that same drive (680GB) lol. And they have a 5 year warranty. So if it dies, they will replace it within that time. So, with this I will not need any additional case fans, CPU fans or heatsinks?

Most intel processors come with good cpu fans. Dual cores also run a lot cooler due to the way they consume less power. The case only supports one fan. But the heat cup and side fan is designed to channel the heat better. And it comes with one fun already.

I went with your first listed recommendations.  Total was 523.95, but it is still a great deal, and I will get $55 in rebates, so again I thank you very much for your time and walking me through this while supplying me with additional information to help me make a sound purchase.

I received the equipment today, and upon trying to install XP on it, I get a Stop 0x0000007E on pci.sys

Since you had mentioned that this was your same case, I was curious if you had the same problem?  I've removed the graphics adapter, which I have not been able to use at this point anyway, but do not have anything else installed in the pci slots.

Do you have any advice?  I can open a new question when I hear back from you.

Is this an orginal xp disc? pre sp1?

the issue is the xp cd. Sp1 or 2 seems to be the fix, you can  create one use your orignial disc and the file.

I found those links, and http://hardware.mcse.ms/message111886.html led me to check the BIOS.
I did not locate any adjustments for the PCI version, but I did disable bus mastering and that seems to have resolved it.

Unfortunately though, I still have not gotten the video adapter working.
Are you using this same one?
The system does not seem to recognize it when I install it, and the mentioned BIOS setting to disable or make the PCI-E card higher priority is simply not there.
I do have the latest BIOS, and have updated all other drivers at this point, but I am still not finding resolution for this one.
I would appreciate any suggestions, if you have seen anything similar in your setup?
