Keep in mind also that you cannot install XP over Vista. I would goto Dell, enter your Service Tag, and download all drivers available for your system and XP. Burn them to a CD or something, then reformate and install XP. You should then be able to insert your driver CD you created, and install any drivers that XP didn't automatically recognize.

This one's easy. XP drivers are on Dell web site.

If your format and load win xp all you need to do is make sure there is a windows xp driver for your hardware.
If there isnt then there's not much you can do except look for an alternate driver that would work.
But most drivers now support xp and vista now.
What hardware on your laptop doesnt have win xp drivers?
