The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Possible to reformat hard drive from BIOS?

Hello all,

My computer has somehow crashed.  The only thing I can access is the BIOS.  Not even Safe Mode, or Last known Good Configuration.  I have a Win XP Pro install disc, but it is from when XP FIRST came out.  I have kept the computer updated (like SP2). I have tried to tinker with the BIOS to boot from CD with the install disc in the drive and try to reinstall Win XP Pro from the install disc.  No luck.  I have tried a "Repair" option also...I just follow the prompts.  No luck.  There is NOTHING on the hard drive  that it is needed.  I would like to know if there is any way I can wipe the entire hard drive and somehow "start over" by re-installing Win XP Pro???  I am a TOTAL novice and am not "hip" to the computer jargon that gets thrown around a lot ...Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
