The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Self built PC freezes up when trying to install Windows XP

For a while I have been looking to buy a new PC and after reading a few articles decided to build a machine from scratch.

The components I bought were:
Hitachi 250GB Hard Drive SATA II 7200RPM 8MB Cache
Sapphire HD 4850 1GB GDDR3 PCI-E 2.0 Graphics Card
Akasa Black Zen Silent Cool Mid Tower Case
Optiarc AD-7200S 20X DVD±RW/DL/RAM Internal SATA Bare Black Drive
OCZ Stealth Xtream 500W PSU
Asus P5Q3 DELUXE/WIFI-AP @n P45 Socket 775 ATX Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 (3.16GHz) Socket 775 Wolfdale 1333FSB 6MB L2 Cache Processor
OCZ 4GB KIT (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600Mhz PC3 12800 GOLD SERIES DUAL CHANNEL KIT (8-8-8-26)

I am pretty sure that I have installed all of the components correclty but when I boot up the computer from my Genuine MS Windows XP Install CD to install the operating system to my hard drive the whole computer keeps freezing unexpectadly.

I have tried installing windows a few times now and every time the computer freezes at a different random point of the installation.

Some of the points it has frozen at have been:
Loading windows (for the setup)
20% into formatting the hard drive (quick format)
3% and 18% copying files to the hard drive

This is getting very annoying.

All and any help is much appreciated, if you need more info then I am willing to provide it so just ask.
