Best new cpu in 2009

I have a Dual Core system.  I want to upgrade it and get the latest technology but not sure what to get.  I am also not sure if I should await awhile as some new technology may be ready to be released.

Please advise:

1.  What is the latest Intel processor?
2.  Should I wait due to a pending release of new Intel technology?

Fastest on earth so far...

New technology question is pretty skeptical especially when it comes to processors and rams where they will keep on upgrading and upgrading. AND there will always be new technology for you to buy.

So I guess the better question is whether you need this new technology or not. If you are a intensive gamer, high end graphic developer or hacker you might want to consider getting this core, otherwise if you current systems supplys all you need, you can just stay put.

I use heavy graphics (PhotoShop, Indesign, Dreamweaver etc.) so I guess your comment would suggest I get the I7.

I also buy Dell (I know, I know, ugh), but I have an account set up with them and it is easy.

But I did not see any I7 in the Dell product line.

When/Where/Who will be coming out with the I7?

Anyway what I really mean is if your current system isn't lagging you at all, you can carry on using your system... :D

I threw everything  I could at my Core i7 940 (2.93GHz) and couldn't break it. It would go above 35% usage!
VERY happy with the performance!
