Question

How to open a CTX computer case

Asked by: anokun7

Can somebody let me know how to open a CTX computer case? It is an old one and at the back I see only the screws to open the power supply and none other.

Thanks.

Cases are like puzzles... look for screws on the bottom. Also try sliding the top back and /or up. If that fails try pulling the front off. Don't break it!! try lifting up and out from the bottom. If all else fails can opener LOL!!

Is this a tower or a desktop?

This is a tower.

There are no screws at the bottom, only the 4 footrests which can turn 90 degrees. One side is white, while the rest of the machine is purple in color. Gimme a few mins, I can post some pictures.

Look for a latch that will slide or that can be depressed most likely on the back or front. It may be hidden at front-bottom or behind a door. Some of these are really ingenious. also look for holes that a tool can be inserted into. An HP case had a hole in the top near the front to release the front.

Actually there is a latch between the power plug and switch. It is orange in color and about half an inch in length and a quater (or lesser) inch in width. It seems to have 3 stages.

That is probably the selector for your power supply that you match to your house wiring. If you are in USA it should be set to 110V. Make sure this switch matches your house wiring otherwise the power supply can be damaged. That is not what we are looking for. I'm thinking of something larger.

Turn the PC upside down and see if there is a handhold and latch at bottom of bezel (plastic front). If so, grasp bezel and press on latch while pulling out on bezel. It may be similar to an Enlight 7237 case where bezel is removed revealing case screws. Case slides to front for removal.

As I have already said, I stongly suspect that the front (bezel) has to be removed and that it snaps into place. Look at the bottom of the bezel between the bezel and the case for any kind of lever you can squeeze, push or pull. If there is no lever then a firm outward tug on the bottom of the bezel may release it. Once it is removed you should see how to get the sides off.

Thanks rettif9, I will try that. Matter of fact there was a small projection like a switch in the space between the bezel & the case, but it did not budge even a bit. I will give it another look.
