is the drive IDE or SATA?
have you tried changing the jumper pins on the hard drive from AUTO discover to master if it is an IDE drive?
also take a look at your BIOS settings on boot, as there may be an issue there. you wouldnt usually get a BSOD on a faulty hard drive on boot, it would generally give you an inacessable boot device error, or something along those lines.
have you tried taking one of the DIMMS out and tried booting it then. Try different variations, run on one stick, change DIMMS etc. Are there any blown capacitors on the motherboard when you look? Dell are notorious for having errors with their motherboards and capacitors leaking/blowing.
how did you get on with the extended diagnostics?
Thanks

have you tried running Dell diagnostics on the machine? This will determine what is wrong with it. BSOD can be caused by a number of different issues, including memory and hard disk. Open up the machine, unplug the RAM and reseat it in the DIMM slots. Do the same for the hard drive SATA/PATA connectors both on the board and on the drive.
Can you press F8 and boot the machine in safe mode? Try pressing F8 when the machine is going through POST (power on self test) and let me know what happens. Sometimes blue screens can be caused by driver conflicts, or hardware issues. Have you recently installed any new hardware, drivers or windows updates?
Thanks
