Need Help Getting MS Office 2003 License Key Or Tricks to Boot From Damaged Drive

I have a computer with a hard drive that gives a read error when trying to boot. However, I can run Ubuntu from the CD and see the hard drive. We want to be able to install MS Office 2003 on the rebuilt computer but cannot find the distribution CDs. The owner assures me that it is a purchased retail version of Office.

I need suggestions on how to boot the computer and be able to read the registry or how to retrieve the product key when booting Ubuntu. Vista is the original OS.
