Or tell us the make and model of the pc
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI recently purchased a windows 95 pc off of e-bay. It is a lower end system (333 megahertz. an intergeated vga
graphics card and 128 mb of Sd Ram and a 6 gb hard drive). Everything worked fine and older games ran perfectly. I formated the hard drive and installed windows 98. However, I am experiencing a rather large problem. I can boot up but when I try to the same older games, it requires me to change the display into 256 colors. When i go into control panel>display it only gives me the option of 2 and 16 colors. Apparently, it is preset and the 16 color level. Why isn't the video card allowing me to change into 256 colors? And how can I fix this problem?

It might also be that it's not just the Windows default video, but that the right video drivers are installed but not the right agp drivers.
For AGP video to work properly, if that's what youre using, you need both the motherboards agp drivers and the vid cards drivers.
Again, as wdr503 said, if you tell us the make/model of the motherboard and the make/model of video card we can help you further.
Or, if it's a brand name system, let us know the make/model of the whole system and we can make a determination from there.
