How can I recover a deleted file from my hard drive? Im using XP Home.  Thank you

in XP the deleted files are simply moved to the recycle bin. You can open it and recover the files in it by highlighting them and selecting restore.

Also realize that in installing software on the current machine that needs data recovery could indeed overwrite files that could normally be recoverable.  So be careful when installing software.  If you have a second machine that is NTFS capable you may be able to slave your drive that needs data recovery into that machine and run the data recovery from the other machine.  Just a thought.  That list is a good list to choose from.
