Try removing the device driver and letting it reinstall.

Is the drive by itself on a cable, or does it share with another device?

In the other machine where it works under WinXP, did you set it up exactly the same? (jumper setting, IDE  cable position, IDE channel)

by: rockyucmPosted on 2004-02-27 at 18:57:43ID: 10474320

itself only
one cable for harddisk
one cable for CD/RW

both of them are master

Do you have a spare cdrom drive that you can try in place of the LiteOn?  I am wondering if your Windows installation is messed up and it happens with all drives.

by: rockyucmPosted on 2004-02-29 at 23:09:24ID: 10484349

I have tried use another CD ROM, it work!

And i have just borrow antoher WinXP Disc from my friend and reinstall the WinXP again. However, the problem still occour.

And i forgot to tell you that, the CDRW cannot copy exe file too, it will show a error message about I/O error.

by: CallandorPosted on 2004-03-01 at 06:34:11ID: 10486494

Ok, so now try your CDRW without the LiteOn drive attached.  If it works, then I would conclude that your LiteOn drive is causing the problems (and should be replaced).
