Also, make sure you update the BIOS

Took out 2 chips and replaced with CRIMMS in one bank. Went to boot - no boot - post beeps 1-3-3-1 which is supposed to mean Autosize dram. Tried every possible combination of rambus and crimms, all rambus, new rambus, and in every case I get the same 1-3-3-1 beeps and no post. Also reset cmos uning jumper on mobo. Any ideas?

If even the old memory doesn't work , then you may have other problems. The new memory may have needed the updated BIOS. Most of my clients computers have the orignal BIOS and I find that if I add newer hardware, I try to update the BIOS at the same time to avoid conflicts. If you can boot up wiht the old memory, do so and update the BIOS.
Back to the problem, check all of the contacts and maybe blow out the sockets with compressed air, it sounds like maybe the modules aren't seating correctly.
