I have a Radeon 7000 series video card and pixie 750 monitor (os xp home) in a new hp pavillion. When I try to change the refresh rate at anything higher than 60 hz it will change in the settings, but not on the monitor (I push the menu button on the monitor and it says 59.7hz). If I go back to the disply settings it says what I set it at. (75hz) Anybody have any ideas as to why I can't change the refresh rate?

1) monitors have a max refresh rate at each resolution. If it is a high resolution, it may be 60hz
2) if the monitor is old, it may have a max 60hz resolution
3) monitors have drivers. you might try to install the specific drivers for that monitor. usually windows sets a "default monitor" driver which is fine, but may cap the resolution lower than normal.that might be the problem.

1) I think that 60hz is correct, because screen is flickering.
2) In device manager the monitor comes up as "default monitor"

1) Manual says scanning frequency up to 150hz. I ran at 85 hz on my win 98 system with no problems. (1024x768)
2) It is not a catalyst video driver.

1)Monitor is about three years old.
2) I tried to go to pixie's web site, but seems as though they are no longer in business. I tried a driver from driver downloads, but it did not change anything.
"Default monitor" is not good. You could try finding the monitor in the list in your O/S or choose another modern monitor. That should give you more choices as to refresh rate and such. Don't use higher frequencies than the monitor can handle.
Monitors don't have "drivers" as such, but there is an info file for each monitot type the O/S knows about, that holds the possible values for horizontal and verical frequencies etc.

1. Do you actually know which of these figures that is correct?
2. Did you find your monitor in the list of monitors, or is it a "Generic SVGA" or something? That could have impact on available refresh rates.
