initialized this display adapter.
To use this adapter as part of your Windows desktop, open
the Display option in the Control Panel and adjust the
settings on the Settings tab.
But the problem is that this message never goes away. Even after Windows loads (I can hear it) the message is still there.
I even tried using an older monitor, but that one also gave the same message that never disappers.
I only have one video card in the pc (onboard dell optiplex gx100)

Try booting from a DOS disk and see if your display is behaving correctly. Create a boot diskette using the tools at www.bootdisk.com.
I had the same exact problem as Richard did, exactly and I fixed the problem. I followed the experts advise and looked at the hookups and what I found was that I had two places on the back of the computer to plug in the monitor, one from the factory and one from a VGA card that I guess I put in (but can't remember doing it). I plugged the monitor into the new VGA card slot on the back and the computer started booting up correctly but then went blank, after a few more tries, it started coming up with the same error message as before about the display adapter. I then opened up the computer, put the VGA card into another open emply slot, started it back up and it works fine now, everything boots up perfectly and the computer is usable again as if nothing ever happened. Thanks for the advise.
