The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. ABIT NF7-S MB won't format SATA drives...

This is my second computer I built.
I am using :

ABIT NF7-S version 2 MotherBoard
AMD XP 2500+ Barton Processor
(1) 512 RAM Pny PC3200 DDR333 Stick (in slot#2)
(1) 3.5" floppy drive
(2) Western Digital 74GB Sata Drives (each attached to its own MB pin) and using sata power
(6) sm. fans, 1 med. fan
thermatake copper heatsink w/artic silver 5
Radeon 9700 128MB video card
Delta 1010-LT Sound Card

My Bios :

Boot Order : Floppy - HD-001 - CDrom

onboard sata controller is enabled as is sata

I am eventually going to install Windows XP Pro.
When I inserted Pro, I got all the way to Partition your hard drives section. Then it did not detect any Hard Drives. I saw them flash by very quickly when the comp first started.. WD74....

Next I tried to insert the win 98 floppy boot disc in (since its only one disc opposed to the 6 involved with XP Pro)... it did not get read. Went to cdrom Win 98 CD , so from there I tried the option without Rom support got an dos prompt, typed dir and saw... contents of what seemed to be the win 98 cd in the cdrom burner... grrr
I swaped the floppy out and put in the sata driver disc from ABIT, hit dir read same cd rom info.
I wen through the raid setup and tried to install the sata drivers... kept saying insert them into the drive.. grrr they were there I swear!
Now I thought maybe floppy was DOA.. swapped it out, no luck..
Tried to attach only one sata drive, no luck..
I have tried to get a bios flash in there, no luck..

I am running out of options here... I saw an article or two that said they RMA'd the board for a new one.. maybe my sata is screwy.
