Wireless card not recognized

I have a Compaq Deskpro EN P600 with Windows XP installed. I have just installed a Belkin Wireless Desktop Network Card (Model F5D700), however, my Deskpro does not recognize the card either at boot-up or by using the Install New Hardware wizard.  I know the slot is good because it's my regular PCI card slot that I had my NIC card in, and I know the new wireless card is good because it works fine in my Dell.  The support person at Belkin suggested I upgrade my PCI/BIOS but I'm not sure what that means, how to do it or if that would even help.

sounds like belkin did not know what to do and referred you to someone else, a common problem with help desk types fi they do not ahve an answer they refer you on.

try taking the card out and re inserting it (re seating) it is probable that the card is either not fully in the slot or not making good contact, by removing and reseating the card should resolve this issue.

Upgrading your bios is installing a newer firmware on your motherboard, the "bios" would come from . this i doubt by its self will resolve the issue.

though the latest bios is available here http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/Deskpro/us/locate/8_406.html#0 but is 4 years old so most likely you allready have this.

i would not recommend flashing a bios unles you know exactly what you are doing or can have someone over that is.

I tried reseating it in 4 different pci slots. Don't know what to do anymore

This is a very common problem with the older computers in the Deskpro line.  You need to switch to a non-802.11g card or a USB 802.11g wireless device.
