So I should just leave it the way it is?
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI just installed Win2K Pro. While trying to solve some problems I was having with device manager I noticed that when I go into power options, UPS tap the status: is all grayed out. Below in the Details: for manufacturer and model it reads: none. Below that, I see a black exclamation mark inside a yellow triangle and it reads:
The UPS service is currently stopped. Is this suppose to be like this?
I just want to make sure I have the right setting for this, before I give the computer back to my friend. By the way... I had Windows Me before I installed Win2K Pro.
When I click on the select button I'm not sure which model I need to select under American Power Conversion. Do I need to select one at all?
Computer Info: Elite - Pentium III - 128MB
Power Supply Info: Model # FPS250-60GTA (not sure who the manufacturer is, But it reads: Power Man).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Dan

A power supply and a UPS are two different things. Power Supplies for PCs convert AC power to DC power and provide power to all the different components inside the computer.
A UPS is a fancy surge supressor you plug your PC and monitor into. It contains a battery that, should you experience a power failure, will keep your PC running for a few minutes, giving you the opportunity to shut it down gracefully. The UPS option you have is what windows would use to communicate to the UPS device and in turn, when Windows heard the UPS was no longer receiving power, it would shut itself down.
