Question

20 pin jumpers

Asked by: specy22

I bought this computer about a year ago 2.0ghz p4. and realized the had the bus speed running at 133mhz. It slow as molasis and hated this computer since I bought it. I looked into I can buy ddr ram for it. but. I need 5 20pin jumpers and I have no idea where I can purchase them. I've searched the internet for them and all I can find is the single jumpers. I would need 50 of those and not to mention how hard they would be to install.  Question is, does anyone know where I might be able to buy at least 5 20pin motherboard jumpers?

What motherboard do you have and why does it need 20-pin jumpers?  I have never heard of this.

by: specy22Posted on 2005-01-10 at 20:25:14ID: 13010419

yeah it dont make much since to me to require so many jumpers.  its  p4vmm2 p4 mainboard.
Right now pins
J2A/B/C/D 20 pin and
J3A/B/C/D 20 pin  are open and are only DIMM compatible.

I have to short all of them to make selectors DDR compatible

Need the jumpers I've asked for to do so..

Is this the motherboard? http://www.ecsusa.com/products/p4vmm2_v7.html
I have a hard time seeing where the 20-pin jumper is.

DDR ram will not fit in SDRAM slots.  Does this board have 4 ram slots (2 sdram, 2ddr)?  I downloaded a manual from ecs and it doesn't show anything like what you are describing.  I just used  p4vmm2 in my search.  Do you have a link to the proper manual in case the one I downloaded is incorrect.

Oh yes, I do know what MB he is talking about. You have 2 sets of memory slots, 2 for SDRAM and 2 for DDR. You can use onetype of memory or the other but not one of each simutanously. The row of jumpers are along the side of the memory slots. Open all for SDRAM or shot them all for DDR. Strange that someone would take the jumpers out of the board. Normally you would just let them hang on one pin. I don't know where you can by the jumpers. You might try ebay or even try and get a defective board for a dime. It might be easier to get a buch of jumpers though.

I think this is the board he is talking about.

In Toronto there are a couple electronics surplus stores where you can get these jumpers.  You might also try hunting down some old scrap mobos and stripping the jumpers.

I would definatly try a local PC store and ask if the have the correct bundled one, if not ask for a bunch of jumpers. Most shops will give them to you.

Im like ya, why would they not bet there.
And yes this is my motherboard,
