How do i Reformatt my C:/ drive for windows xp ?? it did not come with a xp disk , i have a compaq presario 6000 , the prduct key i have , so can i use someone elses disk with my product key??

Compaqs that ship with Windows XP do not always come with recovery CDs. Instead, they use a hidden space (partition) on the hard drive to store the recovery information. Using a hidden partition provides a convenient, more stable recovery process.
HP computers that ship with Microsoft Windows XP and Compaq Presario Desktop PCs made in spring of 2003 and later already come with a hidden preloaded recovery partition. This hidden partition can be used to recover all of the original software in the event of a major problem by pressing the F10 key repeatedly when the computer is first started.

If that doesn't work, maybe you can create the recovery discs using Compaq's Recovery Creator Software:
To start Recovery CD Creator, complete the following steps:
-Close all open programs.
-Click Start, All Programs.
-For Compaq PCs, click Compaq and then Compaq PC Recovery CD Creator to start the program or click Compaq, click Compaq PC Tools, and then Recovery CD Creator. After starting the HP or Compaq PC Recovery CD Creator, proceed and follow instructions.

While Operating System CDs don't come with individual keys, you may not be able to use someone elses CD even if it is the same version. In my experience, your best possibility for success would be to contact Compaq and pay the 5.95 (or whatever postage) to get a replacement CD. This will garuntee that you get all system architecture drivers and on-board system drivers along with any expansion card drivers necessary to recover the base system image.

From where did you get this system.... i mean didn;t you buy it from the shop.... they must had given the recovery cds with it!
Second is this the desktop system or a laptop ??
third.. you cannot use your product key with another cd.... system will refuse to accept the key for installing XP if you will try to do this! =\
