Question

Xpert 2000 Pro 32M AGP

Asked by: Kaeri

I have a desktop at work that I recently wiped and reinstalled Win2k Pro (Svc Pk 4) onto.  I found all the necessary driver files for everything but the video card.  When I pulled the card it said:

Xpert 2000 Pro 32M AGP

which is apparently ATI's 128 Pro card... except... I cannot for the life of me get drivers to install.  I've tried the normal Ctrl Panel > Search for Drivers, I've tried downloading all kinds of ATI files from their website... and I keep either getting "The display driver is not compatible with the display adapter(s) installed on your system", or another one which suggests starting in VGA mode (via Safe mode) to install.  (Which also doesn't work.)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I'm stuck at 16 Color 600x800 right now...

IS this a brand name machine ( Dell , HP ).

Also - have you uninstalled all of the previously installed drivers ?

lastly, I think that there i an ATI program that tells you the correct chipset and model so that you can get the correct drivers.

I hope this helps !

If i remember correctly, Xpert 2000 uses Rage 128, not Rage 128 Pro chip. Driver at ATI site is http://www2.ati.com/drivers/W2KR128513013279.exe

SysExpert & tapkep:

It's a clone shipped out to us from our home office.

I deleted the old partition, reformatted the HD and installed windows 2000.

I was able to find/hunt down all the sound/LAN driver files - but this soundcard is making me batty!

I've been to the ATI site - I downloaded half-a-dozen different files - the W2KR128551313279.exe file, included, and have tried installing and uinstalling them all.  Only one that actually installs is the latest MediaCenter from ATI - but none of the driver files have.  They either tell me they're not compatible with the display adapter, or, alternately, that I should try installing a basic VGA driver before installing.

Have you tried the following display driver from ATI's website?

ATI Customer Care > Drivers and Software > Windows 2000 > RAGE > RAGE PRO >
Windows 2000 Display Driver version 5.0.2195.5013

If you haven't, this is the link for that file.

Ignore last post  - I misread ATI's page

http://www.ati.com/products/rage128pro/xpert2000pro/

for Xpert2000 Pro card.

Do you know whether this card was purchased at retail, or pulled from another PC like a Dell?  If the latter, you may need the drivers from the site of whatever OEM PC manuf. used the card initially, as the cards are often customized to an OEM PC manuf. requirements.

Davidis99:

Tried installing the drivers, again, no luck:

"This display driver is not compatible with the display adapter(s) installed on your system."

But I have more info now:  Went to Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Show Hidden Devices

vga is there, but greyed out - and when I checked it's listed as not working, missing drivers, etc.

VGA Save is also there, and working - but when I looked at the last tab at the resources, the settings have a big red line through them and say something to the effect of:

Input/Output Range 03B0-03BB used by Intel(R) 845 Chipset Processor to AGP Controller 1A31

Is this a conflict caused by the Mobo driver files I installed, maybe?

by: KaeriPosted on 2005-03-09 at 11:05:39ID: 13499367

Davidis99:

It may, infact, have been pulled from a Dell or something.  It doesn't look like it was retail.  I found a website that talked about flashing the bios of vid-cards and making sure that it's the most recent version, etc., but I'm not sure where to start looking.  The card itself says:

Xpert2000 Pro 32M AGP
P/N 1025-B4030 00149
S/N A210163856
PN 109-65700-20

and nothing else...

it's an intel MoBo - D845WN

Hmm  this sounds really familiar.  I bought a few used cards a while ago and had the same problem getting drivers to work.  Not sure but the part number looks vaguely familiar.

My cards were made by Sapphire who make a lot of ATI powered cards.  Here is a link to thier driver page,
  http://www.sapphiretech.com/downloads/downloads.asp

I do believe the driver from Sapphire resolved my problem.  Maybe you will get lucky with thier driver.  I do believe the sapphire download is not the same as the ATI one.  It has been quite some time.

Anyway,  Heres a link to all the rage drivers from ATI,  I would start at the top and work down - I think you have already tried some of these.
  https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=27

Also uninstall any existing drivers before installing these.

Hey this guy is selling a card with a matching part number,
  http://www.sell.com/2HXXX
Maybe he would be nice enough to tell you who made it or where a driver could be found.

Good luck.

Kode99's comment ablut the Sapphire seems to match up with a search I did on the first PN you mentioned - the first site that came up in Google

http://www.asisupport.com/ati_sapphire.htm

mentions that PN and links to the drivers, while this note on ATI's website looks like a good confirmation:

"*  1025670300515159 would verify a product BUILT BY ATI.
 *  1025-B4030-123-SA would verify a product POWERED BY ATI."

and this site is reselling that part number for a ridiculous price compared to current components:
