Did that also. No change. Is it possible that the Windows Update could have updated a file that is not part of the actual driver set but still related to the graphics system somehow?

Browse All TopicsWe have a Dell Optiplex GX260 with the on-board Intel 82845G video card. Last week we did a Windows Update on the system (which included a video driver update) and afterwards the video card now only functions in 640x480 resolution with 16 colors. The option shows up to change the slider to 800x600 but it won't take the change, it says it does but never actually changes resolutions. Before the update we were running in 1024x768 with high colors. I have tried reinstalling the drivers with the newest from the Intel website for this video card, but still seem to have the same problem. I even did a driver rollback to the original driver from the Dell initial install and the problem still persists. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?? Thanks

later
This turned out to be an actual hardware issue. I reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled with a fresh install of Win. 2000 and the resolutions are still messed up. I put a different video card in the system and it works great.
All of the above answers were good responses, but none of them solved my particular issue. Not really sure how to close this out giving out any of the points.

Why not download the drivers from Dell instead? There may be reasons the intel/other drivers don't work. Try dell's
