Hi imnajam,

>>"167 no processor bios update found"
You must be able to find an option in your SETUP (BIOS) in advanced settings that says something like: "processor updating" and you should set this to "disabled"
your BIOS for this option.

Greetings,

LucF

by: imnajamPosted on 2005-07-31 at 03:31:11ID: 14564457

hello LucF,

I have read that in PAQ and unable to find any such option like PROCESSOR UPDATING.

by: LucFPosted on 2005-07-31 at 04:06:10ID: 14564508

It's a long time since I last had a 300GL, I'll see what I can find for you.
Just to be sure, can you try resetting the BIOS to defaults?

LucF

ok I am going to give it a try to restore default also resetting bios through jumper setting.

Thanks

I tried clearing cmos, resetting bios, load factory setting.

but nothing help me get rid of that error!

by: JohnnyCanuckPosted on 2005-07-31 at 05:52:40ID: 14564679

That system is supposed to have a 500mhz PIII in it, not an 800mhz CPU.  That is why you are getting the error, your CPU is not supported.  You need to put the original CPU back in.

by: imnajamPosted on 2005-07-31 at 12:38:15ID: 14565956

Hello JohnnyCanuck,

if the processor is not supported than why is it giving me display and working fine without any freeze ?
I don't have any 500mhz PIII processor available rite now. and I am looking for a solution that let me use 800MHz processor on that board. I think that there should be a flash bios update for the board which will support & recognize that processor very well!

Thanks for the reply!

It seems you have the newest bios available

Up to 1 Ghz should be supported

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/commercial_desktop/pjjt41a.txt

found here where the bios downloads was

The worst site I ever wandered .

Hello Stockhes,

It's good to see your response and the links provided by you, but I don't understand what do you mean to say "bootblock is off" how can I turn it on? and what would be the effect of it?
I don't know about what does the "aus" means in the end of bios information but it is displayed in system information.

and can I try to reflash the bios?

Thanks all for your responses.

Hi inmajam

I think i have misinterpreted the value of boot block in your first post. I thought it was necessary to have the same number as your BIOS binary file. IE bios 41 - boot block also 41.

The boot block is a small program. Actually the very first becoming active, checking the validity of your bios. If fault is found then an attempt is made to load a new BIOS binary from floppy. Sometimes this requires to change a jumper on the Motherboard.

So boot block is actually a part of the bios.

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-45385

Can you create the same info as in your initial post after flashing, just to see what has changed ?

by: imnajamPosted on 2005-08-02 at 13:36:56ID: 14583199

ok here you go for product data

Machine Type/Model          656343U
Flash EEPROM Revision Level         PJKT41AUS
Boot Block Revision Level       PJ29A
System board identifier      NR3WL143N7Y
System Serial Number       23RW137

I beleive that all these settings under product data as same as before but just a little change was noticed under
"Advance setup........processor control"

<Previous values>
Pocessor 0 ID            0683
    Microcode Revision (MM/DD/YYYY)       ??/??/????
<Current/new values>
Pocessor 0 ID            0683
    Microcode Revision (MM/DD/YYYY)       02/06/2001

Thanks for description about bootblock:)
