Dell Poweredge 1800

We had a power outage recently and our UPS failed to kick-in, as such the power to the server was cut causing a horrible shut down!

When the power eventually came back we 'thought' we had gotten away unscathed but there is now a flashing red light on the front of the server, I had tried to find out what this is indicating but have been unsuccsesful, anyone know??

Regards

This is exactly what I used to cure the problem.

Thanks

tom_greatorex,

I have Dell servers, and I have a newly-installed PE1800 that is flashing orange, but I am using RHEL5.3, and the OpenManage installation method doesn't support it, and I cannot install OpenManage in Linux.

I have used some of the OpenManage disks to update hardware and so on, but I find the choices under "Dell Support website -> Drivers and Downloads -> Systems Management" to be confusing.

I have used OpenManage Server Build and Update Utility to update hardware using the repository extracted from the Server Updates download, but how can I use OpenManage utilities to correct this flashing orange light without installing OpenManage on the hardware?
