Question

Serious Error Recovery Message - Random Shutdown Problem

Asked by: FernCrest

Well, the computer didn't blow up, but I think it came close.  Lately, we've been having a random shutdown problem, and we'd hoped we'd solved it with a new GeForce 6600GT video card and downloaded the new drivers ... a whole 24 hours go by without a random shutdown!  Huzzah!  Then, last night ... you guessed it.  Random shutdown.  Then, today, before we had a chance to do anything ... random shutdown.  After the reboot, we get THIS message from Computer Hell:

"Your system has recovered from a serious error."

Here are the *THIRTEEN* error codes that I copied from the pop-up error notifications.

PLEASE, for the love of dogs, can someone make sense of this mess before we build a sacrificial altar in the backyard for the computer?

Oh, and could I go way beyond all normal hopes of us ignorant dorks who beg for help .... and ask that whoever answers *NOT* tell me how stupid I am?  I know how stupid I am.  Trust me on this.

Thank you!  Bless you!

Sorry, it's taken a little bit to get back online.

Power Supply is far more than adequate, thank you for the link!

We swapped out the RAM sticks for ones in another computer that we knew had no problems ... BINGO!  The original computer was fine, stopped crashing, ran *much* faster and more smoothly!  We just sent the bad one (we figured out which one by swapping between five sticks) back to the company for replacement.

Thank you so very much.  After all we went through, including new motherboards, new video cards, two new anti-virus programs, etc, this was the answer (we hope) that solved all of the problems.

Have a wonderful day!
