Does the CD drive work properly otherwise?

My friend recently brought round a cd with photos on which he burnt with nero on his machine.
He brought the cd round here and we cannot see the photo folders on my desktop, however if i insert the cd in my notebook i can see all of them fine.
What is wrong here?

It depends on the capabilities of the cd player as to whether it can read burned discs or not.Older models didn't have good capabilities.
