Yes I've updated Windows completely, all the patches were installed, but still the problem remains.

Browse All TopicsHello,
I've recently formatted my hard disk and re-installed Windows XP. All is working fine expect the on-board sound chipset, for which I am unable to find the driver. I have a "P4V845 series" motherboard, and I don't know by whom it was manufactured. I've checked the surface of the motherboard and I could not find a specifc manufacturer name...
I've also searched Google and came up with empty hands... Many links are dead or simply misleading.
A link to the appropriate sound driver would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
John Hyams

You just reinstalled so you've taken your drivers database (in windows) back to what was on the CD.

First thing to try (has other benifits as well) is to run windows update and bring your drivers database back to current.
It will also reinstall any security fixes you've wiped out.
