BIOS recognizes SATA 320gb Seagate, XP Pro install does not.

MoBo Intel D945 GPM socket 775, new
Intel P4 3.2 ghz
1028mb RAM DDR2 533 Mhz, no errors
Seagate 320 gb SATA, new
BIOS recognizes HD, socket 1 of 4 available.
Clean and new install XP Pro OEM from Tiger Direct

Install appears to go fine, loading zillions of files, then blue-screen stating no hard drives recognized.
Sending this from ol' reliable EIDE AMD home-grown sys.

Going absolutely nuts.

Thank you!

it can be your drive died. you can test it on another sata connector, or with another sata cable.
does it still show ok at post?
you can test it with hitachi's drive fitness test  http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm
or dowwnload the ultimate boot cd, which contains all the drive tests, and more :
http://ubcd.sourceforge.net/download.html
in the end, it can also be your mobo, so test the drive on another PC to be sure .
As mentioned above you are probably missing the driver. But, if the XP CD doesn't include SP1 or SP2, then you should also make sure you only install the OS to a 120GB Partition, as XP not servicepacked doesn't properly support larger partitions than 137GB. With 120 max you add some tolerance.
A little clarification on what you mean by -->XP Pro OEM from Tiger Direct<-- why didn't the computer come with XP installed if its OEM. Is this a restore disk or perhaps this is actually a retail version of XP bought from Tiger direct.

I would go with the rindi here with the issue being the SP level of the cd, as  XP has a great database of Intel drivers on the install disk and very rarely need to have them installed at the f6 prompt. Being a newer board those drivers may not be on the cd, and the SP may provide them as well as support for the large HD.
If this is a retail version of XP, you can slipstream the service pack into the XP cd providing it with the necessary support for large drives over 137Gb  http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp
You can even include the raid drivers that the F6 prompt calls for if needed. http://www.maximumpc.com/2005/01/how_to_slipstre.html

If in fact its an OEM version of XP there are different steps that may be needed to slipstream it.

jamietoner: Thanks a million.  In all my confusion I missed the obvious.  Sometimes one just needs another view from outside the "trees".
----------------------

sparkmaker: What I meant was a bought a "bare bones" system from Tiger.  Since I was converting from EIDE to SATA on a new MoBo and CPU, I thought it was smarter to start with a fresh install of XP pro that I later bought from Tiger (OEM retail version).  I can move files later.  The CD came with SP2. What I missed all along was the floppy that came with the system initially with the driver mentioned by jamietoner.
Thank you for your help
To rindi and nobus,

Thanks to you also for your help.  My blood pressure has dropped back to acceptable levels.!
