Browse All TopicsI am trying to install my M-Audio Delta 44 sound card. In spite of a successful install of software and driver, "no playback devices" shows up in Sounds and Audio Device Properties tabs. In Device Manager, I have the following splats!

Device Status: The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
Sound, Video & Game Controllers
! "MICROSOFT WINMM WDM AUDIO COMPATIBILITY DRIVER"
Device Status: A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)
Any help would be appreciated

Go to device manager and under the VIEW tab check -->show hidden devices. Remove all sound card related components and then restart the computer. This will clear any other previously installed sound devices and XP will then find and install the appropriate component.
If there is onboard sound on your motherboard, go into bios and disable it.
