clean install on new computer

I am getting this error message trying to install win xp pro sp1 on a new computer that i have built.
Asus M2V-MX SE Motherboard, 160 Gb WD Hard drive Sata

Check the BIOS for the SATA mode see if it is set to compatible, native or what not there may be a setting to change it

During install did you load the SATA device drivers (press f6 during install) ?

The problem do not happen when I am installing with a new xp home sp2 cd.The thing is that I only have a valid licence on xp pro with an old cd. the problem happends before the installation program restarts fore the first time.

This is probably because the device driver for your hard disk controller is not on the SP1 CD but IS on the SP2 CD.

You can use NLite to create the SP1 CD with your hard disk controller driver.

Go Western Digital website and download utility tool to test the drive, if needed, use that tool to format the drive and try install again. You might need F6 to supply sata controller driver as said above.

I think I found the reson for my problem:   It's to do with the pci express architecture that the new motherboards have,
the original windows disks dont have the drivers needed for the new technology!
To overcome it, you will need to use a Windows XP disk with Service Pack2 included

No objection.  Look into using NLite anyway if you want to stick with your SP1 install CD.  You can put the motherboard drivers on there.
