Computer freezes for 10 seconds on opening application

Asked by Bubbs64 in General Computer Systems

I recently built my 5th PC using windows XP Pro. I have noticed that when I open some and only some apllications like iTunes or Sony Vegas to computer freezes for 10-20 seconds (hard drive lights flashes on and off) the mouse skips all over the place. Never seem this before.

Have re-installed windows, closed any anti-virus programs. Still no positive result.
