Browse All TopicsI am using a Gygabyte GA-X48-DQ6 motherboard and the specs say to use:
4 x 1.8V DDR2 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory
My memory is: Corsair Dominator TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF 8GB 2 x 4GB PC2-8500 1066MHz 240-Pin DDR2 Dual Channel
Which is 2.1 volts.
Should I set the DDR2 over voltage to .3 in the bios?
Thanks,
Dave

Yes usually setting the over voltage so that it Equals 2.1 volts or whatever volts you need, should be fine.
As always be careful when you push the system's limitations.
Can't guarantee that damage may be caused from changing specs and voltages etc.
I have some Corsair ram that runs at 2.1 volt as well...and had to change that in my bios as well....otherwise the system was unstable.
So you should be good....But be careful...watch heat...and temperatures as well.
