Asked by KevinRLi in PC Laptops, LCD & Plasma
I'm working on a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop for my niece and it has one of the most bizarre issues with the screen I have ever seen. The top 1 third of the screen is perfectly normal and the bottom 2 thirds of the screen has vertical lines of different colors. When I first turn the laptop on the the top third is jet black just like it should be. I can see the top part of the Dell spash screen and the bottom 2 thirds is a dull black color with faint lines. The stipes come in once windows boots. Now I have searched the net for other people having a problem like this and found nothing. If it's dim it's the back light or the inverter, if it's blank all together it's probably the LCD itself but no one else is having a problem like this. The backlight is nice and bright and looks very normal so my question is whether it's the lcd or the inverter. 1 third is normal and 2 thirds are fubar.
Any insight into this would be appreciated.
