Best dual display solution for computer display and projector?

Asked by erinch in Computer Displays / Monitors, Projectors, PC Laptops

In our church multimedia setup, we are using a high-powered dual display laptop and Win XP Pro. The laptop screen display is cloned for display by the digital projector onto a screen. It works fine for still images, but whenever a video clip is started, whether in a presentation program or in WMP or RealPlayer, there's a "stutter" of 4-5 seconds -- the audio starts, and the video shows on the laptop screen, but the project displays a "searching for RGB input" message , the screen goes to black for 4 seconds or so, and then the video starts.

It seems likely the problem is with the laptop trying to sync with both displays, rather than a problem wit hthe projector. We're willing to jump to a desktop PC if that would help.

Anyone have experience with this issue and recommendations for the best way to solve it?
