1680 x 1050 resolution not listed for Viewsonic widescreen LCD

1680 x 1050 resolution not in list of available resolutions. I installed a Viewsonic VG2030wm widescreen LCD. Using the supplied CD, I installed the monitor driver using the manual installation instructions because it couln't do it automatically. Those instructions had me choose Default Monitor from Device manager and update its driver to the one supplied. This worked initially. I was able to select 1680 x 1050 and it displayed perfectly until I rebooted my system. Now I can't get it to offer that resolution anymore. I've manually reinstalled the monitor driver using the same steps. Reinstalled my video driver (it was already up-to-date). I also called Viewsonic tech support. They blamed the video driver.
