Browse All TopicsMy client's desktop PC appears to boot ok - at least from a sound and HDD light point from view, but there is no signal to the monitor I have attached - not the same as clients. She thinks the PC has gone into "sleep" mode and can't be woken up as it were. I know certain hardware components can be used to sleep/wake up PC's but unsure if that's the case here.
I've tried all the usual possibilities, except changing the graphics card as I don't have a spare AGP card here. I tried removing the mobo battery last night for a few minutes to see if any BIOS settings would be cleared - nothing. Can't access BIOS at all because of lack of signal to monitor.
Short of buying another graphics card which may not even give the solution, any ideas?
Many thanks.

Hi all
Thanks for all your responses - by a fluke I've just found onboard video hidden under a screw-down cap and this actually works! Interestingly, I tried a spare video card in a spare PCI slot and this didn't work, although I can't guarantee the condition of the card, being in a drawer...
I guess it's time for a new AGP card.... Will investigate some more later and update you all.

Really sounds like its the card.
Just in case, have you tried Connecting the PC to another Monitor?
Might also try removing the graphics card and re-seating it.
If no spare AGP card is available, would it be possible to wait after hours and remove one from another pc to test on this particular one.
