Cannot get two monitors configured on HP 5750 PC
My HP 5750 Desktop has a ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 video card with a Analog and DVI output. I have a Dell E173FP on the analog side and an Viewsonic VA1916w DVI LCD via a DVI to DVI cable. I installed the driver for the viewsonic and it does not detect. I tried different resolutions and different drivers... the Device Manager still only sees the analog Dell LCD.
I rebooted, and now the VA1916w shows up on the 1 screen and my E173FP Analog was swapped over to the 2 spot and is inactive. It looks like the VA1916w has the right driver, since it automatically set to 1440x900, its native resolution.
How do I get my number 2 monitor active?

NOTE: ATI says it supports dual monitors on the 1100 series.................... ..
. What display features do the ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 Series support?
The Radeon Xpress 1100 Series chipset support multiple display features including:
ATI SurroundView" - support for up to 3 monitors when combined with an ATI discrete graphics card
Dual Independent displays CRT/LCD, TV/LCD
Plug and Play Monitors
Support for flat panel displays via DVI

If you have on-board video, be sure to disbale it in the BIOS
Sorry, the above will obvioulsy not help if you have an monitor connected to the On Board Video and the second one Connecte to the Video Card.
Or do you have them both plugged into the same video card?

HP pre-installs the control center. The mistake I made was using the Windows dual monitor setup pane. I should have gone direct to the ATI Control Center, then the "DISPLAY" pane. Bang... the inactive monitor on my analog port was there, All I had to do was drag it to the 2 spot and tell it to either "EXTEND from Main" or "Clone Main". I think they do this so it is easier to configure Extending and Cloning 2nd displays.

You got it. The Catalyst controls are much more powerful (as in number of different options) than the built in Windows options.
Thanks for the Accept, glad I could help!
