my hp laptop  screen has went out is there anything software wise to help me solve this issue? don't tthink that it is the back light.

Plug in an external monitor and see if it works. If so, then your screen is probably bad. There are several components there that can go bad. ... Thinkpads_User

Can you give more specific info?
You see any scratches? Is your screen black or flickering or something else?

do you see anything during boot?
after booting, do you see the screen very faintly? (may need to look in a darkened room)

If it happens during the boot, it could be a damaged MBR.
If so, run BartPE and do an MBR fix.

was just a windows update problem just did a system restore.
