10 Did you try anohter monitor ?

2) Did you try newer VGA drivers ?

3) have you checked to see if your VGa card is over heating ?

4) Check or replace VGA cables .

I hope this helps !

i don't see white lines...
you can also try another resolution.

by: tinystechPosted on 2009-08-25 at 06:02:34ID: 25177053

Maybe windows updated your video driver and has caused a conflict.
Goto
Start - Rick Click My Computer - properties - Hardware tab - Device Manager - click the plus sign next to display adapters - Right click your video card - properties - driver tab - Roll Back Driver - Follow prompts. Then restart the computer and that may fix your issue.

by: CallandorPosted on 2009-08-25 at 08:22:15ID: 25178534

It looks like you aren't using the specific driver for your video card, or the resolution is not the native resolution of your monitor, if you're referring to the white dots lining up on the screen.

any feedback ?

by: rusdemezalePosted on 2009-09-21 at 02:02:23ID: 25381187

I did nothing, but I did not detect the new white lines for a while.
but suddenly yesterday, the monitor crashed.Hardware Failure.infinite loop etc...
please have a look at the picture attached.

by: nobusPosted on 2009-09-21 at 03:55:02ID: 25381638

tets it on another pC - this will show if the monitor is bad, or the video card !

by: tinystechPosted on 2009-09-21 at 07:52:02ID: 25383475

That is a video card, but it could be just a driver.  Does the screen appear normal before you get that screen in the picture?

by: rusdemezalePosted on 2009-09-21 at 10:49:31ID: 25385519

hi tinystech,
yes login screen is viewable normally. so not a hardware issue but windows kernel driver ???

by: rusdemezalePosted on 2009-09-21 at 14:39:15ID: 25387896

the logon screen is ok-viewable, but as soon as I log in or after having logged on, while trying to do sth., open browser etc., it blurs a while and then monitor becomes black, going to sleep. no reaction. I have to then restart the computer!!!

if I otherwise restart in Safe Mode, no problem.(that is what I am doing at the moment)

by: CallandorPosted on 2009-09-21 at 19:14:16ID: 25389168

Reinstall your video driver - it sounds like it got corrupted.

by: rusdemezalePosted on 2009-09-22 at 02:46:59ID: 25390964

I downloaded from the NVIDIA website 190.62_desktop_winxp_32bit_english_whql.exe and installed it while being in Safe Mode. successfully.

then restarted in normal mode, again it crashes.

by: nobusPosted on 2009-09-22 at 03:57:49ID: 25391355

>>  test the monitor on another pC - this will show if the monitor is bad, or the video card !     <<  did you test the monitor yet?

by: rusdemezalePosted on 2009-09-22 at 11:07:18ID: 25395697

nobus:
in safe mode, the monitor works fine. so it is somehow the driver.

by: CallandorPosted on 2009-09-22 at 18:01:19ID: 25399218

Try it with an earlier driver version - if it continues to crash, you may have a bad video card, in which case it's time to try a different card.

by: nobusPosted on 2009-09-22 at 23:23:14ID: 25400435

well - yes and no.
since the driver is NOT loaded in safe mode, it can still be a bad card.
you can also verify this by running from alive knoppix cd (but testing it on another pc is much faster and easier ): ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/dist/knoppix/KNOPPIX_V6.0.1CD-2009-02-08-EN.iso

by: rusdemezalePosted on 2009-09-23 at 02:48:10ID: 25401256

@nobus:
I dont have any other computer to test the monitor, so I downloaded the KNOPPIX Image, burnt to a CDROM Disc and booted therevia.

at first everything was working fine, but suddenly it started blurring in KNOPPIX.
and the monitor was not reacting to any mouse clicks, although mouse was moving around...
so most probably Videa Card is corrupt, and must be renewed!!!

thanks for the help to everybody.

by: nobusPosted on 2009-09-23 at 03:59:57ID: 25401669

you can test it on afriend's pc
note that it can be the mobo as well....

by: CallandorPosted on 2009-10-16 at 17:00:23ID: 25594194

At the very least, comments that pointed to a possible bad video card should have been selected as solutions, such as http:#a25381638, http:#a25399218 and http:#a25400435.

by: rusdemezalePosted on 2009-10-28 at 01:23:06ID: 31619763

i had to buy a new video card in the end!
