After transporting my Optoma HD32 projector from work to home, I turned it on and saw vertical white lines spaced evenly across the entire display. I am wondering what the cause of this is and how to fix it (and prevent it). It has actually happened before after moving it, but the lines went away after a few minutes on their own. This time, they have not gone away after 30 minutes. I have tried resetting the projector settings, tried turning it off and on again (twice), but the lines remain. Googling hasn't turned up much, I did see one person that suggested hitting the projector with your hand. I eventually tried this and it did alternate the thickness of the lines, but did not clear them. Any suggestions (especially if you have experienced this) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I haven't had to take it apart yet...I unplugged everything and then shook it a bit. After plugging it back in, the lines appeared again at first but then eventually went away. The next time I turned it on, once again the lines appeared and then eventually disappeared. So I think you're on the right track, but I don't want to take it apart until I have to. Thanks for the help.
I agree with David -- this definately sounds like something inside is "loose" or rubbing, which is why you can physically change it by giving it a good smack. I think taking it apart is the next step.
Is the projector hot(ter) to the touch when it had been on for a bit? I don't think this is a cooling issue, but you will want to verify all fans are running smoothly and not coughing.

I've had TV's with similar issues. And yes, they did get smacked on the side and that would temporarily clear the blurriness. Those systems had loose electronics/cabling. It sounds as if you may have something working itself loose in the projector. Especially if it happened after the unit was moved. If the case is accessible you might have a look inside and hand test the electronics for tightness.
