Mac Mini DVI Connection to Sharp Aquos Gone Bad

Asked by shacho in Mac OS X, Computer Displays / Monitors, Apple Hardware

I have my Mac Mini hooked up to my Sharp Aquos LC-32BD2 HDTV via DVI.  It has worked fine for at least 6 months.  Today I ran the Mac OS software update and suddenly it stopped working.  The TV says the signal is incompatible.  Oddly, it displays fine when the machine is booting up.  Once it boots all the way up, I see some speckles on the screen for a second, then everything goes black and the TV displays the error.  Any ideas on what is causing this problem and how to solve it?
