Browse All TopicsI have scoured the web looking for a 12.1" 16:9 res touchscreen overlay for my HP tx1205us which has a sister model that has a touch screen.
Does anyone know of a 12.1 16:9 overlay that exists. Or any method of getting a touchscreen that will fit this computer?
Thanks, JOe K.

Touchscreens use a 4-or-5-wire sensing element to determine where you've touched the screen (this can be either a resistive or a capacitive element => capacitive sensing is more accurate, but also more expensive). Your monitor does not have these elements ... but as you've noted, you can get overlays that do for some display sizes (but not, apparently, yours).
Clearly the best solution is, as pcbonez noted, to simply get the sister model with the touchscreen. The replacement screens for that model are about $500 ... so it's not economical to replace your screen with the touchscreen version => you'd do better by simply selling yours on e-bay, Clark's list, etc. and buying the model you really want.
However, although I'm not aware of any widescreen overlays as small as 12.1", a larger overlay will work -> the problem of course is that the "cosmetics" of it won't be very clean ... since it would extend beyond the boundaries of your screen on one side and the top. The smallest widescreen overlay I found is for a 15.4" screen => this would extend about 2.5" beyond one side of your display and about 1.5" above the top [http://www.touchscreens.c
Depending on why you need the touchscreen (i.e. if this is for a "fixed" location where you don't really need the portability of the laptop), you could also simply buy an external touchscreen monitor ... for example: http://www.newegg.com/Stor

Buy the sister model with the touch screen because yours won't likely have the internal circuitry and connectors to support one.
