Question

How to sync contacts from blackberry device to pc?

Asked by: bwjohnson88

For some reason all my contacts in my outlook got deleted and i cannot find them anywhere.  They are in my blackberry pearl though.  I want to sync up my blackberry contacts to my computer, NOT the other way around.  Also, I cannot have any chance of losing them off my phone either.  Does anyone know how to sync information from a blackberry TO the computer without the risk of losing data?  Thanks.

Assuming we are not talking about a corporate BES server and MS Exchange, then the blackberry desktop software is what you use to sync the blackberry with your computer.  You can sync it with the dekkstop software or with outlook, etc.  You need to set it to sync with Handheld wins conflicts for the contacts to have the contacts copied onto whatever your are syncing with on your computer.

You alse may be able to back up your BB with the desktopp software nefore you even mess around with syncing.

Before you begin you need to connect the device and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager, then select Backup\Restore and select Backup.  Once you select Backup choose a location to save the backup.  Once you have a backup it is safe to try and synch to Outlook and we can always restore the backup.  Now as an alternative method you can open and edit the Blackberry Backup file with "ABC Amber BlackBerry Converter" which will allow you to export all your contacts to a CSV file which can be easily restored back into Outlook.

Okay, i downloaded and bought that amber blackberry converter and converted the backup contacts to a csv, but now when i try to import it, it doesn't do it completely and only puts about 20 of my contacts into outlook and not even in a complete form.  Any ideas?
