I am not using BIS or BES. I setup my corporate email to send to my blackberry , and it worked correctly up until last Friday.
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI'm using Verizon service here in the USA for my Blackberry 8830 World Edition phone.
Sometime last Friday, all of my email history was deleted. Since that time, I can retain no more than 20 emails in my email history on the device (right now 13), although I'm not deleting them from my history they are being removed somehow.
Also, anytime I receive a phone call I used to have a phone call history list. That history list is now gone. I received 6 phone calls one day this weekend, and none of them were available in my phone call history list.
Is there a setting that I somehow toggled by accident that is causing this? Can someone assist?
Thanks.

1) Checking memory = 2 places I would look, first look at the traditional scenario, go to Options > Status. It will show free memory. The other is look at the database sizes for the different apps on the bb, go to Options>Status>Menu>Data Base Sizes for that.
2) Hard reset is just really a reboot, you will lose nothing. Every once in a while it a good thing to do this to the blackberry anyway.
3) You got it on that one. If you log onto the Verizon website and set up the BIS, which is free it will probably work better for you anyway then the forwarding mechanism. I would recommend it. At present do you have your blackberry address setup as a contact in your exchange environment? If so, you know this already, everytime you reply, you reply as the vzw blackberry.net account then your actually business email account, just another advantage of BIS. As long as all you care about is the email, it is a good option and works well and has some little functions that make it easier to use.

BIS takes 10 minutes to set up.
OK - In Options -> Status I have
File Free - 0 bytes
File Total - 47841280 bytes
Sounds like I've filled up all my memory.
Now that my phone won't show those past emails, how can I access them to remove them and bring my free space back down again?
I don't see Option -> Status -> Menu on my phone.
When you say "hard reset", do you mean turning it off, then on again? I've done that, but if this is an issue with too many files stored locally, then that won't fix it I would think.
Thanks for all your help, very nice to have someone walking me through all of this.
The option > status > menu, the menu button is the button with the rim icon or on the left of the pointer with the 7 dots on it.
In terms of memory you have 2 options either get a mini sd chip move some files over to that or uninstall a couple of things like any 3rd party apps you might have installed. Looking at the database scenario might give you sense of what is the hog. For most it is pics or music. For that just use the media manager on desktop manager software to tranfer some files to your pc. For long term solution go with the sd, nice to have anyway.
As for the hard reset, different than just turning it off with the red power button. You can either take the battery out for 30 seconds or do the shortcut I gave you. I use the shortcut because the battery is a bit of a pain to get out. Once you do this it may take 2 minutes for the phone to come back up to main menu. If you are having any weird issues always look to a hard reset first, the bb can get flaky every once in a while just like a pc.

Are you using BIS or BES?

If BES, you have a couple of options, Check out:

You can also delete the user from the BES, wipe the handheld and reactivate. If you go that route just make sure to back up the BB device before doing anything. Also if you go this route on the BES set the prepopulation statistics on the server to 14 days.
