You have a few options.
1. If this is for work and they have a blackberry enterprise server, you can activate it on the BES and it'll all happen over the air (wireless sync)
2. If this is personal, you can install the desktop software that came with it (or you can download the newest version from blackberry.com) This will sync messages as they arrive in your outlook to your device.
3. If you only care about email, you can setup a free BIS (blackberry internet service) account. This will cause blackberry to sign into your mail account (using pop3/imap) and fetch your email that way. You could instead create an email accout with blackberry for the device and forward your email to that address to get the mail to appear on your device.
