Blackberry Calendar duplicates when synching

i have a user who has a blackberry storm that synchs calendar and contacts through desktop manager. I have a 2 way synch between the device and the outlook profile. when i set the synch on the calendar to 5 days, it works OK. when it is set to a longer period...it duplicates many calendar items....recurring and single instances.
how come it does this...or better yet....how do I stop this?

Do you have "Mailbox Wins" setting enabled on the Device?..

Since it works fine when you have one setting set, first thing I would do is resend the service book to bb device. Go to bb, Options > Advanced Options > Service Book. Delete all entries, you won't be able to delete them all and you will have to delete one by one. Then go to BES, right click on user, Resend the Service Book. Wait 20 minutes then test.

Please note that I do not have a BES server. this is strictly a single user syncing with an outlook profile through a connection to their comptuer.
please let me know if this changes anything.
