Blackbery IT Policy to Disable App's from showing up

I have things like Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger that I do not want my blackberry users to use or even see. I have deleted them from the service books, but they come back.

These icons need to be gone and I do not want my users to be able to install them.
There are other 3rd party apps they can install, so a blanket - no app policy is no good.

The Service Exclusivity Policy Group already has them set to false.

Hi, I assume you are referring to the download links\icons that are present on the device? These items are pushed to the device from your carrier and that is why the can return after you delete the services book.  If you upgrade to BES 4.1 SP6 (also MR5 is recommended) you will have a few new policy items such as RIM Value-Added Applications Policy Group and Application Centre Policy Group.

As for jdera's answer, so yes that works for installed apps - but where does one find the install files for every app to install onto the server and not the Blackberry divice directly? Since you need to install every app onto the server THEN set the Disposition to Disallowed in the newly installed app policy.

Off the top of my head within I.T Policy > Browser Policy Group there is an option to Allow Application Download Services.  Try setting this to false.

That works for new applications, but what about the default applications pushed out in the service books?

What I personally do is go into The Policy > Security Group and disable third party applications from being downloaded.  This will prevent anything new from being installed but to remove the current application you will have to either manually uninstall them or follow the steps jdera provided.

That does not work with apps pushed out though the Providers Service Books, as well, if it is a 1st party app that I do not want it will not work.

A Chezzy solution would be to have an IT Policy to hide the icon's by default, but looking into that it does not seem possible yet.

Sorry you can't hide icon via I.T policy.  It is worth giving the carrier a call and seeing if stop pushing the apps.

Yea, really I want to not let things install - keep in mind the memory restraints.
The carrier will never stop pimping out the apps, they are getting paid to do so.

Which is I bet why BlackBerry lets it happen.
