Can't send attachment from Blackberry Pearl

I have an app that has a function to "Send Feedback". This creates an email with a .dat attachment.

But I get the error:

Email service does not support these types of attachments.
change the Send Using field or remove the attachments.

It's a Pearl 8100 with BB OS 4.5 and I have a BES 4.0.7 - no other email service.

I haven't been able to find the BES setting that would allow this attachment.

Is it possible? If so, any tips on how?

you can try add the extension to the existing distillers on the BES.

Thanks... that looks pretty close. I figured the "Connector Config", but not the reg setting.

As it's a .dat extension, would I treat it as text? There doesn't seem to be a distiller for general binary... Do you think text might work?

Or is there a proper way to allow this?

I think text should be fine. Give it a go anyway and see how it fares!

Same error - even restarted server and BB

The product is SocialScope (Twitter and Facebook) - must work for other users?

Just to update... I think I've confirmed that a .Dat file can't be sent as there isn't a Distiller you can use.

I've passed this onto the guys at SocialScope.net and will post back as soon as they find a solution
