Try running it from a workstation. Could be that server protection stuff.

Browse All TopicsI just upgraded last night from BES 4.1.6 to BES 5.0 for Exchange. The upgrade went fine and all Blackberry's are functioning correctly today. The problem I'm running in to is that I have not yet been able to open the Blackberry Administration Service web page so that I can see what's actually going on with the devices. When I first tried to bring up the page it ran through a couple ActiveX install prompts. Those completed (to the best of my knowledge) but I cannot get the page to load.
I'm pulling this up on the BES server (Windows Server 2003 with Explorer 8). There were some group policy items enforced for IE. I've removed this server from getting those enforcements, and I've added the machine's local name to the Trusted Sites list.
I can get to the login page. I proceed from there and I get the page that says it's "trying to complete the setup by retrieving the necessary controls". It errors on this page. When I look at the error details I get:
(1) Object required - dojo.js
(2) Object doesn't support this property or method - webConsole.js
Any ideas on this? I'm glad the upgrade went well, but I need to be able to get in to these web pages so that I can continue administering.
Thanks.

So I tried accessing from a Vista virtual machine. Though this VM is running IE7 I was able to get in to the admin service. I'm still getting a warning along the top of my browser window that reads: Internet Explorer has blocked this site from using an ActiveX control in an unsafe manner. As a result, this page may not display correctly. But, I seem to be able to use the site OK. Thanks for the help.
If you're using IE 8 and login to the site and dont get the full blackberry admin service page, click the broken page icon next to the lock and page refresh in IE to set the page to compatibility mode.
Funny enough, you'll see the page toggle between broken and fixed as you click on the compatibility mode.
Nothing to do with the server version of IE, does this same thing on IE on the desktop.
Personally feel that blackberry should never have done away with the admin console. Major F-UP!.
Gotta say that I agree with you, aktharchowdhury. I still don't get the reasoning behind a web-based console as opposed to what they had rolling before. Well, let me revise that ... I don't get the reasoning behind a web-based console that's so janky. I, too, have found that switching to Compatibility Mode makes things work. I still get an alert about some ActiveX piece that isn't working, but I seem to be able to do all that I need to do. Can anyone say 5.1???
