Question

BES 5.0 Installation Error 5305

Asked by: Gary11734

I'm on day 5 of trying to get our new BES 5.0 server up and running.  Here's the error I'm receiving from the Event View in SBS 2008 (I know RIM doesn't support it, that's why i'm asking the question here.  I've already overcome the 443 conflicts to get to the AS software) with 2007 Exchange.  I get this error when trying to activate phones to the server:

BlackBerry Messaging Agent CRUZER2 Agent 1 failed to start. Error code 5305

Here's the MAGT file:

1.  I've reset my System Folders (created new GUID's for Public Foldars and OAB's).
2.  I do not have Microsoft Outlook installed on this computer.
3.  I've installed BES 5.0 using besadmin service account.

I've gone through a whole bunch more troubleshooting steps than what is listed above, but after 5 days, I can't really remember them all.  Those 3 abovce are the questions I'm sure will be asked 1st.

If anyone can enlighten me or walk me through this last step, it would be greatly appreciated.  I know I'm close.

Is the BESAdmin account hidden from the GAL? it needs unrestricted access to the GAL to resolve its own mailbox location and that of all bb users.

Also, does the BESAdmin account have LDAP query permissions?

A 5305 error is an "Open message store" error (http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB04099&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_SUPPORTISSUE_1_1&dialogID=161578531&stateId=0%200%20161574509)

I spent a few hours on the phone with RIM on Saturday and I'm assuming that we checked those issues, but just in case....

How would I know if the account is hidden?

As far as the LDAP goes, I can verify it using the Blackberry Server Config tool that credentials are okay.

I think from memory it's either in AD properties (might have been for 2003) or the Exchange 2007 management console.
Here's a link from google that shows how to query Ex2007 to see which users are hidden from the GAL:

No accounts are hidden from the GAL based on the LDAP query in your attached list.

Cause 5 - The location of the administration mailbox has not been updated

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration mailbox has been migrated to a new server and its location has not been updated through directory replication.
